NC Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes: 2-3 dozen cookies
Ingredients
2¼ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 stick butter
½ cup shortening
¾ cup granulated (white) sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups pecan pieces
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375’.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
- Beat butter, shortening, white sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time.
- Gradually stir in flour mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 9 – 11 minutes until light golden brown. Don’t overbake if you want them to stay soft and chewy.
- Remove to wire racks to cool.
